Dutchies Wins the PayPal Best Starter Award at the Prestigious Shopping Awards 2024

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands – The Dutch Shopping Awards, one of the most prestigious ecommerce award shows in the Netherlands, took place last night for the 23rd time. This year’s event celebrated the achievements of various online stores and recognized the top performers in the industry. Notably, Dutchies, a new online shop specializing in handmade leather phone cases and bags, emerged as the winner of the coveted PayPal Best Starter Award.

The Shopping Awards have become a well-known ceremony within the ecommerce sector in the Netherlands, honoring excellence and innovation. In addition to the PayPal Best Starter Award, the event also presented 29 people’s choice awards, 6 jury awards, the Ecommerce top-50 list, and the highly coveted DHL Best Online Store of the Year Award.

The jury awards were determined by a panel of industry professionals who evaluated the nominees based on their motivations and presentations. The awards were given across several categories, including sustainability, b2b, marketplaces, new technologies, best ecommerce manager, and best starter. Each category recognized a winner who demonstrated outstanding performance and achievement.

In the sustainability category, MetOlijf.nl emerged as the winner of the DS Smith Sustainability Award. Prefabmaat was honored with the Youwe B2B Award for their contributions to the business-to-business sector. Super Ninja was recognized as the winner of the Amazon Marketplace Seller Award. The PostNL New Technologies & Innovations Award went to Q-Park for their technological advancements. Mariska van der Burg of Geisha Fashion won the Mollie E-Commerce Manager of the Year Award, showcasing her exceptional leadership skills.

The Ecommerce50 list, which highlights the fastest-growing companies in the industry, was also announced during the awards ceremony. Topping the list this year were companies like NOTBRANDED, Cloudpillo, and Bono, showcasing their notable growth and success.

Lastly, Welkoop was the recipient of the prestigious DHL Best Online Store of the Year Award, marking their second consecutive win in this category. The last time a store achieved back-to-back wins at the Shopping Awards was in 2013 when Coolblue claimed the title.

Throughout the event, various people’s choice awards were also presented to winners in their respective categories. From applications to fashion, pet supplies to electronics, the awards showcased the diverse range of online stores that have captured the hearts and minds of consumers in the Netherlands.
