BARCELOS, Portugal – In a strategic move to consolidate their holdings and enhance their influence in the European textile industry, the family of the late entrepreneur Mário Mano has successfully acquired the remaining shares to own 100% of ATB – Acabamentos Têxteis de Barcelos Lda. and ETEVIMOL – Empresa Textil de Vilardo Monte Lda., companies that he co-founded. RSN Advogados facilitated this major transaction, underpinning the family’s commitment to perpetuating Mano’s pioneering legacy and vision for the textile sector.
As a result of the acquisition, Mário Mano’s sons, Ricardo Mano and Tiago Mano, will spearhead the operations of ATB and ETEVimol respectively. In an ambitious move to centralize operations and ramp up production capabilities, ETEVIMOL will be transferred to the premises of ATB located in Mariz, within the Barcelos Municipality. This strategic relocation is supported by a significant investment exceeding 5 million euros, earmarked for upgrading machinery and expanding production capacities to include innovative textile products.
This consolidation aims not only to streamline operations but also to generate additional employment in the region, boosting local economic activity and advancing technological adoption in the textile manufacturing processes. The integration of the two firms under a unified leadership is expected to harness synergies and foster innovation, maintaining their competitive edge in the bustling European market.
The legal expertise provided by RSN Advogados was instrumental in the closure of this deal. The team, led by José A. Nogueira, managing partner, alongside associate lawyer Joana Barbosa Moreira and solicitor Carolina Cabages, ensured a seamless transaction, adhering to all regulatory compliances and strategic interests of the Mano family.
This acquisition not only signals a robust confidence in the textile sector’s growth prospects but also underlines the family’s dedication to continue Mário Mano’s work. By retaining complete control over the companies he founded, his family endeavors to uphold his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality and innovation.
The move also reflects a broader trend in the industry where legacy businesses are increasingly seeking to modernize operations while expanding their market reach through strategic investments. This is particularly pertinent in the highly competitive European market, where technological advancements and operational efficiency are key drivers of success.
The future of ATB and ETEVIMOL looks promising with the new leadership structure and the strategic infusion of capital aimed at modernization. The Mano family’s recent actions exemplify a larger commitment to nurturing the growth and sustainability of a business in honoring a founder’s legacy, ensuring that the entrepreneurial spirit of Mário Mano continues to thrive and inspire the textile industry in Portugal and beyond.
