CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wisconsin – The Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls is set to host its inaugural juried art show, with the theme of “Arrivals and Departures.” This showcase, running from September 5 to October 16, 2024, aims to capture the constant cycle of arrivals and departures that shape our everyday lives. From significant life events like the birth of a child to mundane moments like eagerly awaiting the end of the workday, we are constantly reminded of the comings and goings in the world around us.
Organized by Heyde Center committee member Kay Brathol-Hostvet, this art show is particularly meaningful to her as she spent four decades as a professional artist before transitioning to art education. Brathol-Hostvet believes in providing artistic opportunities in a facility like the Heyde Center, where artists can come together to appreciate and showcase their work. “Artists want their work hung with other work of quality,” she emphasized.
This prestigious event welcomes artists from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois, encouraging them to submit up to three entries of both 2D and 3D art. The wide reach of this show is expected to attract artists from across the Midwest to the Heyde Center. To support the exhibition, donations and sponsorships have been instrumental in offsetting costs.
The chosen theme, “Arrivals and Departures,” leaves room for artists’ interpretation and creativity. Brathol-Hostvet explains that even exploring a different medium can be seen as a departure for some artists. With the aim of fostering a cohesive yet open-minded vision, this exhibit will epitomize the vast talent present in the Midwest.
Entry information for the show will be available on the cvca.net website starting May 1. The art show will come to life on September 5, and visitors can enjoy the exhibit until October 16. Additionally, a reception and awards program will take place on Sunday, September 8, from 2-4 pm. For those interested in supporting the event financially, further information can be obtained by emailing [email protected].
The Heyde Center’s first juried art show will undoubtedly be a testament to the artistic talent and creative spirit of the Midwest. As the artwork celebrates the intertwined nature of arrivals and departures, visitors will have the opportunity to contemplate these moments that shape our lives. The Heyde Center eagerly awaits the diverse submissions and vibrant expressions of both local and regional artists.
