Joseph L. Shetler Appointed to Cole County’s 19th Judicial Circuit Bench

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — In a recent judicial appointment, Missouri Governor Mike Parson has named Joseph L. Shetler as the new judge for the 19th Judicial Circuit, which predominantly serves Cole County. This appointment fills the vacancy left by Christopher K. Limbaugh, who was promoted to circuit judge earlier.

Joseph Shetler is the founder of Shetler Law, LLC, a firm with a strong focus on estate planning, probate law, and business transactions. His extensive legal experience is complemented by his educational background, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Conception Seminary College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri.

Prior to his new judicial role, Shetler contributed his expertise to the Cole County public administrator’s office. In this capacity, he played a critical role in managing estates of deceased individuals and acting as guardian or conservator for those unable to manage their own affairs due to mental or physical incapacities.

This selection is part of Governor Parson’s continuing efforts to strengthen the state’s judicial system by appointing qualified, experienced professionals who understand the complexities of law and its impact on the community.

Legal experts suggest that Shetler’s background in estate and probate law will be particularly valuable in his new role, given the complexities and sensitive nature of cases that often come before the 19th Judicial Circuit.

Community leaders in Jefferson City have expressed optimism about Shetler’s appointment, highlighting his reputation for fairness and comprehensive legal knowledge. His previous work for the public administrator’s office has also demonstrated his commitment to public service and community welfare.

The governor’s office released a statement applauding Shetler’s dedication to law and his community, noting that his professional conduct and ethical standards align closely with the judicial qualities necessary for the role.

As Joseph L. Shetler assumes his new responsibilities, Cole County residents and the wider Missouri legal community will be watching closely, anticipating the ways in which his expertise and judicial approach will influence the local justice system. This appointment not only fills a crucial judicial vacancy but also marks an important step in continuing to uphold the integrity and efficiency of Missouri’s courts.
