Man Accused of Killing Wife, Unborn Child, and Infant Son Set to Face Trial

VICTOR, Idaho — Jeremy Best, a resident of Victor, Idaho, is set to stand trial for the alleged murder of his wife, young son, and unborn child. During a Zoom hearing on Thursday, 7th District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. scheduled a jury trial for Sept. 15, 2025, in Teton County, Idaho. Best, 48, appeared via video conference from the Bonneville County Jail, where he has been held since December 2023.

The grand jury in Teton County indicted Best on Dec. 18, 2023, charging him with three counts of first-degree murder and three enhancements for using a firearm or deadly weapon during the commission of the crime. The victims include his wife, Kali Randall, her unborn baby, and their 10-month-old son, Zeke. Best pleaded not guilty to all charges on Jan. 3.

Teton County prosecutor Bailey Smith announced her intention to seek the death penalty against Best in a notice filed on Feb. 28. The next court proceeding, a pretrial conference, is scheduled for Aug. 12, 2025.

On Nov. 30, 2023, Best was spotted naked in Swan Valley General store, located approximately 30 minutes from Victor. Police were called, and he was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Best was discharged the same day.

The following day, Kali Randall and her unborn baby were found dead at the Best family home in Victor. Authorities issued an Amber Alert for 10-month-old Zeke, who they believed had been taken by Best. On Dec. 2, Best was discovered in a sleeping bag on the side of the road in Bonneville County and apprehended. Tragically, Zeke was found deceased nearby.

The upcoming trial will provide an opportunity for the prosecution to present its case against Jeremy Best, who stands accused of the brutal murders of his wife, young son, and unborn child. The court proceedings will seek to bring justice for the victims and their grieving family.
