Salisbury Attorneys James Davis and Timothy Readling Honored on 2024 Super Lawyers Lists for Outstanding Legal Achievements

Salisbury, North Carolina – Salisbury attorneys, James Austin Davis and Timothy James Readling, have been recognized for their legal expertise in the 2024 edition of North Carolina Super Lawyers. Davis and Readling, natives of Rowan County, are affiliated with Davis & Davis, Attorneys at Law, P.C., in Salisbury.

Davis has been listed in the Super Lawyers for his exceptional skills in criminal defense, family law, and general litigation. This recognition marks his ninth selection by the publication, including eight consecutive years. Davis is a specialist certified by the North Carolina State Bar in federal criminal law, state criminal law, and family law. In 2023, he was honored as an “icon” by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly and currently serves as a member of the Disciplinary Hearing Commission for the N.C. State Bar.

Readling, on the other hand, has been selected for the Rising Stars list for his achievements in civil litigation and general litigation. This is the second consecutive year that Readling has received this recognition. In addition to his legal work, he serves as the president of the Judicial District 27 Bar and the Rowan County Bar Association. Since his appointment in 2021, Readling has also been an arbitrator.

Both Davis and Readling expressed their gratitude for the honor, stating that they feel both honored and humbled. They attribute their success to the invaluable guidance and mentorship they have received from colleagues and judges. The two attorneys often collaborate on cases and frequently challenge each other on legal matters.

Davis was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1991 after earning his law degree from Regent University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Catawba College. He has been a part of Davis & Davis since 1991 and has led the firm following his father’s passing in 2005. Davis is actively involved in various civic and community leadership positions, including being a board member at Catawba College, the Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA, Salisbury Academy, and previously serving on the board of trustees for Charleston Southern University and Rowan Helping Ministries. He is a father of four children.

Readling obtained his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Catawba College. He joined Davis & Davis in 2017 and has since been making strides in his legal career. He was previously honored with the Young Alumni Award in Career Development by the Catawba College Alumni Association and served on the alumni board of directors at the college.

Super Lawyers is a prestigious rating system that recognizes lawyers in various practice areas who have attained a high level of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process involves independent research, peer nominations, and evaluations. The Super Lawyers list represents no more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state, while the Rising Stars list includes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys who are either 40 years old or younger or have been practicing for 10 years or less. Davis and Readling will be featured in the January 2024 edition of North Carolina Super Lawyers magazine.
