LOS ANGELES – Kimberly Branscome, an esteemed attorney specializing in product liability and mass torts, has joined the Los Angeles litigation department at Paul Weiss as a partner. Branscome brings with her a wealth of experience in handling complex litigation cases concerning product liability, professional liability, environmental and toxic torts, and securities matters.
Having previously served as the co-head of Dechert’s product liability and mass tort practice, Branscome has represented major corporations in highly publicized tort cases. Notably, she played a crucial role in Johnson & Johnson’s product liability litigation, which revolved around allegations of asbestos contamination in its talc powder products. Branscome also represented General Motors in litigation related to faulty ignition switches in its vehicles.
Currently, Branscome is deeply involved as lead defense counsel for 3M in the largest mass tort case in US history. The case concerns product liability litigation over earplugs sold to the military. Additionally, she serves as the defense liaison and lead trial counsel for GSK plc in proceedings in California surrounding its antacid Zantac.
Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad Karp expressed his admiration for Branscome, stating, “Kim is widely regarded as one of the most talented and respected lawyers in product liability and mass torts. Her considerable experience and expertise will be an invaluable asset to the firm and our clients.”
Prior to joining Paul Weiss, Branscome worked at Dechert, where she led the product liability practice and served as the office managing partner in Los Angeles. Her move to Paul Weiss follows the firm’s expansion of its Los Angeles office in September, with the addition of 12 lawyers from Kirkland & Ellis.
Branscome’s arrival further bolsters the growing team at Paul Weiss, which aims to strengthen its presence in the field of product liability and mass tort litigation. With her extensive knowledge and reputation, Branscome is poised to contribute significantly to the firm’s success in serving its clients.
