HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman appeared in court early Saturday morning, accused of fatally shooting her nephew following a fight in northwest Harris County, according to court documents. Mei Wolfe, 48, now faces a murder charge after a reported ongoing feud with her nephew led to the tragic incident inside her home.
The incident unfolded on Thursday morning in the 24300 block of Tesino River Circle in the Katy area. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Wolfe’s nephew, a recent college graduate, had been staying with her after a few months of traveling. However, tensions rose between the two when Mei believed her nephew had overstayed his welcome.
Authorities said the altercation escalated, prompting Mei to take hold of a pistol and fire a shot. Her husband, Bob Wolfe, who is a justice of the peace in Harris County, called 911 in an attempt to stop the confrontation. He also tried to remove the weapon from his wife’s hand, but was unsuccessful.
Tragically, the nephew was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, his identity has not been released by officials. Mei Wolfe was granted a bond of $100,000 by a judge, with strict orders to surrender her passport and refrain from possessing any firearms if she is released on bond.
Judge Bob Wolfe’s office declined to comment on the incident when contacted by ABC13. The investigation into the shooting continues, as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
