Son Charged with Father’s Murder in Plymouth Home, Arrest Follows South Shore Manhunt

Plymouth, Mass. — A local family tragedy unfolded when a man was discovered dead from a stabbing at his home early Thursday morning, leading to the later arrest of his son. The Plymouth District Attorney, Timothy Cruz, announced that 26-year-old Matthew Paluzzi was apprehended following a multi-town manhunt and now faces murder charges in the death of his father, 76-year-old Anthony Paluzzi.

The arrest occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in Hanover, about 30 minutes north of Plymouth, after authorities located Paluzzi’s vehicle using aerial surveillance. Video footage from Massachusetts State Police shows multiple law enforcement vehicles stopping his Nissan Murano and taking him into custody in the middle of Columbia Road.

The distressing sequence of events began earlier in the day around 6:30 a.m., when police were summoned to the Paluzzi residence in Manomet, a coastal village in Plymouth. Upon their arrival, authorities found Anthony Paluzzi unresponsive with a fatal neck laceration. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to district attorney Cruz, the preliminary investigation suggests a neck stab wound as the cause of death. However, he provided no details regarding the motivation behind this family-related homicide or the circumstances leading up to the attack.

A long-time neighbor, Lisa Caola, who lives across from the Paluzzi home, shared her memories of Matthew Paluzzi growing up in the neighborhood. She recalled him as “a nice little kid,” noting that he engaged with her children during his youth. Post-high school, Matthew worked at a local supermarket before reportedly making some “bad choices,” as described by Caola.

Law enforcement officials noted that Matthew Paluzzi was previously known to Plymouth police, implying a history of interactions, although specifics of these were not disclosed.

The community has been left rattled by the violence that shattered the quiet morning in Manomet. Neighbors expressed shock and sadness, recognizing the complexity of emotions that such a familial incident brings to light.

Matthew Paluzzi is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday, where details of the case will begin to unfold in the legal system. The tight-knit community awaits further information as they come to terms with the sudden violence and the loss of one of their longtime residents.

As the investigation continues to develop, authorities are calling for anyone with additional information to come forward to assist with the ongoing case. Meanwhile, neighbors and friends are starting to rally support for the grieving family, reflecting on the often-hidden struggles within families that can tragically escalate to violence.
