Madrid, Spain – Fieldfisher, a law firm based in Madrid, has announced the appointment of Pedro Claros as partner and Head of Practice of the International Arbitration practice. This marks the first time that the firm will incorporate this practice area in its Spanish office. Joining Claros in his team will be Antonio Delgado, who will serve as international arbitration of counsel.
Pedro Claros is a lawyer, arbitrator, and jurist with extensive experience in international litigation and arbitration since 1997. He possesses a Master’s degree in International and Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center, specializing in international and investment arbitration. Claros also holds a degree in Business Administration and Management, which equips him with the ability to proficiently analyze financial, tax, and accounting matters in arbitration cases.
With over 22 years of professional experience, Claros has previously worked at well-established law firms such as Garrigues and Cuatrecasas. Prior to joining Fieldfisher, he managed his own boutique law firm, Claros Abogados, where he represented international investors in arbitrations against Spain under the Energy Charter Treaty.
Antonio Delgado will join Pedro’s team as international arbitration of counsel starting on February 1. Delgado brings with him more than 18 years of experience in commercial arbitration and investment disputes, having practiced in various jurisdictions including Madrid, London, and Geneva. Known for his expertise in sectors such as energy and construction, as well as cases related to foreign direct investment, Delgado will initially work in Central America, based in Costa Rica and Spain for a year.
