Global Creative Titans Converge to Judge AWARD School 2024’s Top Talent

Sydney, Australia — The Australasian Writers and Art Directors (AWARD), a beacon for creative professionals in the Asia-Pacific region, has unveiled a star-studded panel of international creative leaders who will serve as jurors for the AWARD School 2024. This panel, known as the Super Jury, is set to select the national top student from the region’s leading course for emerging advertising creatives.

Comprising a diverse roster of industry heavyweights, including Executive Creative Directors and Chief Creative Officers from globally recognized agencies, the Super Jury is positioned to evaluate the burgeoning talent emerging from AWARD School. This initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative minds equipped to handle the evolving demands of global advertising.

Members of the 2024 Super Jury include Greg Hahn, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Mischief in the USA, Helen Rhodes from BBH London, and Jim Curtis of McCann, USA among others. These jurors represent the pinnacle of creative achievement and bring a wealth of experience and unique perspectives to the judging process.

Scott Dettrick and Sharon Edmondston, co-heads of AWARD School, expressed confidence in the jury’s ability to discern the most outstanding work presented by students. Dettrick highlighted the jurors’ esteemed status in the creative world, while Edmondston celebrated the students’ exceptional efforts and innovative work submitted over the course’s 12-week duration.

In discussing the impact of AWARD School on young creatives, Daniel Walton from Meta – Creative Shop in Southeast Asia, who also sits on the Super Jury, shared his excitement about the talent pool. “Viewing these fresh creative approaches and ideas,” Walton commented, “reminds us of the importance of continuous innovation and human-centric narratives in building relatable and effective advertising campaigns.”

The Super Jury’s deliberations will take place online starting this Friday, marking a significant prelude to the AWARD School state graduation nights scheduled across various regions including NSW, VIC, WA, QLD, SA, and an online program set for August 6.

The highlight of this year’s AWARD School will likely be the national top student announcement, scheduled for August 15 during the prestigious Gold Pencil Award Party. The event forms part of “This Way Up”, an esteemed festival celebrating creativity in Australia’s advertising industry held in Sydney.

The selection process is rigorous, with only state winners qualifying automatically for the Super Jury round, ensuring that only the finest portfolios are reviewed at the national level. AWARD, along with the Advertising Council Australia, has expressed good wishes to all participants, emphasizing the importance of creativity and storytelling in today’s advertising landscape.

As AWARD School continues to foster exceptional talent, it is clear that the industry’s future remains bright, propelled by innovative leaders and creative thinkers prepared to leave their mark on global advertising.
