GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — A man from Greenville County, South Carolina, has pleaded guilty to a hit and run incident that resulted in the death of a woman in 2022, according to Solicitor Walt Wilkins from the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Aaron Bradley Laws, 30 years old, entered his guilty plea on March 18, admitting to charges of hit and run with death and habitual traffic offender with death. Wilkins provided evidence during the plea hearing, which revealed that Laws had been driving a pickup truck along Talley Bridge Road in northern Greenville County on September 21, 2022. He lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip several times. The victim, Devin Tylean Vaughn, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from the truck during the rollover.
Following the accident, Laws fled the scene without offering any assistance or identifying himself as required by South Carolina law, according to Wilkins. After an extensive investigation by law enforcement, Laws was apprehended. During the investigation, he confessed to driving the truck, leaving the scene, and observing the aftermath of the incident from nearby woods as first responders arrived. Judge Fant subsequently sentenced Laws to 20 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
