Omaha, Nebraska – The trial is set to begin today for Aldrick Scott, the man accused of killing Cari Allen, who went missing right before Thanksgiving in 2022, and then fleeing to Central America after disposing of her body in Kansas. Scott, originally from Topeka, Kansas, is facing charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The trial is anticipated to last approximately 10 days.
Investigators discovered Allen’s body on a property in Topeka, leading to the tampering with evidence charge. Scott, who had been Allen’s ex-boyfriend, fled the country and was eventually apprehended in Belize after a local there reported hearing him confess to killing his girlfriend in the United States. He was subsequently arrested by Belizean authorities and deported for illegally entering their country.
Authorities only found Allen’s remains after Scott’s arrest. They located her body near an abandoned farmhouse in Topeka, prompted by the OnStar system on Scott’s vehicle, which indicated an extended period spent in that remote location. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office had already issued a kidnapping warrant for Scott at the time of his arrest. Friends of Allen have revealed that Scott had difficulty letting go.
The trial will not permit cameras in the courtroom, but 6 News will provide updates on the proceedings during permitted times. The case timeline will unfold as the trial progresses.
