Yolo County Grand Jury Announces Multiple Indictments, Including Charges of Murder, Robbery, and Perjury

Yolo County, California — Multiple individuals were recently indicted by a Yolo County special grand jury, which handed down charges ranging from attempted robbery to murder, following a thorough review of the criminal matters presented last week. The decisions revealed by the local authorities indicate a wide array of charges designed to address severe allegations, including vandalism and perjury across different cities in the state.

Joseph K. Baker, a 37-year-old transient from West Sacramento, faces serious legal consequences after being slapped with four counts of attempted second-degree robbery. The charges against Baker also include two count enhancements due to alleged use of a deadly weapon during the commission of the crimes. His initial arraignment took place on July 22, setting the stage for a trial readiness conference scheduled for October 9, at the Yolo County Superior Court in Department 9.

In a case stretching across state lines, Markeec Brunson, 48, from Norristown, Pennsylvania, and Donald Womack, 46, from Philadelphia, are facing grave charges including one count of murder, coupled with an enhancement for willful, deliberate, and premeditated murder, as well as one count of conspiracy to commit murder. The duo is expected to be arraigned on July 29 in Department 8 of the same court, highlighting the seriousness of their alleged offenses.

The grand jury also focused on acts of vandalism and related charges, leading to the indictment of Lysandra Dasilva, 31, Nathan Orr, 30, both from Davis, and Cheyenne Xiong, 20, from Hayfork. They each face counts of vandalism and conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor. Additionally, Dasilva and Xiong have been charged with resisting or obstructing public officials. Arraignments for these three suspects are scheduled for September 4, in Department 9 of the Yolo County Superior Court.

Lastly, the grand jury addressed issues of integrity within legal proceedings, handing down an indictment against 51-year-old Michelle Reinert, formerly of Folsom, on three counts of perjury. Having already been arraigned on July 25, Reinert’s subsequent trial setting conference is slated for September 16, likewise in Department 9.

These varied indictments underline a proactive stance taken by local law enforcement and the judicial system in Yolo County to address and deter criminal activities. Each case now moves forward into the pretrial phase where the accused will have opportunities to respond to the charges in court, a crucial step in the U.S. legal system that underscores the balance between swift justice and the right to a fair trial. As these cases progress, the outcomes may set significant precedents for how similar cases are handled in the future, reflecting local legal standards and broader implications for criminal justice practices.
