FRANKLIN, Wisconsin – The recent passing of retired Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Skwierawski has left his community in shock. At 82 years old, Skwierawski was known for his active lifestyle and engaged presence in various civic projects. His death, which occurred in his sleep on March 8, has saddened those who were familiar with his relentless energy and commitment to public service.

He played a fundamental role in the establishment of the Polish Center of Wisconsin, an architectural gem overlooking a beautiful lake on a 36-acre property in Franklin. Additionally, he provided vital legal guidance to the Conservancy for Healing and Heritage, a nonprofit organization focused on healing and supporting cancer patients.
Throughout his career, Skwierawski exhibited a strong work ethic and a dedication to justice. As a Circuit Court judge for 25 years, he presided over 515 jury trials, including the high-profile 1982 murder case of Lawrencia Bembenek. Skwierawski’s commanding presence in the courtroom and unwavering commitment to facts earned him respect among his peers.
Beyond his judicial duties, Skwierawski was known for his involvement in community organizations and his passion for problem-solving.
