NEW YORK — Epiq, a leader in legal services and technology solutions, has enhanced its team by appointing Tom Davis as Chief of Staff for its Class Action, Remediation, and Mass Tort division. With a profound background in operations, compliance, and fraud prevention, Davis brings decades of relevant expertise to a rapidly evolving field fraught with complex challenges.
Davis, who previously served as vice president of operations and fraud prevention at Garden City Group (GCG) before its acquisition by Epiq in 2018, will directly collaborate with Nicole Hamann, President of Epiq Class Action. His role is expected to fortify the management team’s capacity to navigate the intricate needs of their clientele efficiently.
“Clients’ needs continuously evolve, and having Tom on board, with his unique compliance and fraud prevention expertise, greatly solidifies our team,” stated Cameron Azari, Senior Vice President at Epiq. “His recognized ability and reputation in the market are invaluable as we continue to strive for excellence in our service offerings.”
Davis’ career is marked by significant achievements and leadership in high-stakes environments. A licensed attorney for nearly three decades and a certified fraud examiner, his experiences range from being an FBI special agent specializing in white-collar crimes to holding leadership positions at major corporations like IBM, KPMG, and Grant Thornton. At Moss Adams, he led national litigation and investigative practices, further cementing his credentials in regulatory and compliance issues.
In discussing the importance of his work, Davis highlighted the persistent threat of fraud in class action settlements. “The sophistication of fraudulent claims has only increased, making robust preventative measures essential,” he explained. “Epiq’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and expertise lends a significant advantage in safeguarding legitimate class member interests.”
This year, Epiq has unveiled EpiqShield™, a suite of technological enhancements aimed at strengthening fraud detection in class action claims processing. This state-of-the-art initiative employs a combination of real-time technologies and data analytics tailored to each case, ensuring the integrity of claims and expediting valid settlements.
Epiq operates globally, providing comprehensive technology-driven services to legal professionals and corporations. Their expertise spans a wide range of critical functions including eDiscovery, regulatory compliance, and bankruptcy matters. Their strategic innovations are designed to handle the increasing complexity of legal and corporate challenges with precision and reliability.
With Davis’ addition to the team, Epiq reinforces its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and integrity in the handling of sensitive legal matters. The strategic move not only addresses the immediate needs of their clients but also positions Epiq as a forward-thinking leader in an industry where expertise and precision are paramount.
