Door County Branch 1 Circuit Court Judge Candidates Face Off in LWVDC Forum

STURGEON BAY, Wisconsin – Door County residents will have the opportunity to vote for a new Door County Branch 1 Circuit Court Judge in April. The retirement of incumbent D. Todd Ehlers has paved the way for Jennifer Moeller and Brett Reetz to run for the seat. The League of Women Voters of Door County (LWVDC) has organized a candidate forum on February 15 to provide voters with the chance to hear from both candidates and make an informed decision.

The LWVDC’s candidate forum aims to give equal opportunity to Moeller and Reetz. The event will take place at the Door County ADRC in Sturgeon Bay from 6 to 7:30 p.m. During this time, the candidates will have the chance to present their credentials, explain their reasons for running, and address questions from the audience. To ensure that all voters have a voice, residents can email potential forum questions for the judicial candidates to [email protected], with “Forum Question” in the subject line.

It is important to note that the League of Women Voters neither supports nor opposes any political party or endorses candidates. Therefore, the forum will provide a fair and impartial platform for voters to gain insight into the qualifications and positions of Moeller and Reetz. The event will be free and open to the public, and a recording will be made available on the LWVDC website for those unable to attend.

In addition to the forum, the Peninsula Pulse, a local publication, will publish questionnaires for all the contested races in upcoming issues. These questionnaires will give readers the opportunity to learn more about the candidates and make an informed decision. The LWVDC website, lwvdoorcounty.org, also offers more information about the forum and the circuit court in Wisconsin.

With the retirement of D. Todd Ehlers, the upcoming election for the Door County Branch 1 Circuit Court Judge position holds great significance.
