Dolton Trustee Andrew Holmes Faces Accusations of Sexual Assault: Mayor Accused of Cover-Up

DOLTON, Illinois – Dolton Trustee and renowned Chicago activist Andrew Holmes is facing allegations of sexual assault. A former employee of Dolton, along with a Dolton police officer, filed a lawsuit accusing Holmes of the assault, and claiming that Mayor Tiffany Henyard attempted to cover it up for her own protection. Both Holmes and Henyard are named as defendants in the suit.

The Las Vegas Police Department has confirmed that they are currently carrying out an ongoing investigation into Holmes. According to the lawsuit, Mayor Henyard and over a dozen others attended a conference in Vegas last May. On the evening of May 26, after a group dinner, a Dolton employee accompanied Holmes, who is a Dolton trustee, out for the night.

The employee alleges that she began to feel disoriented and light-headed during the evening, and eventually blacked out. The lawsuit further alleges that Holmes contacted the mayor’s security detail, who is also a Dolton police officer, that same night to discuss his alleged advances towards the victim. Sensing something unusual about the conversation, the officer began to record Holmes before Facetiming him.

During the Facetime call, the officer witnessed Holmes shirtless, the victim partially undressed, and Holmes pointing the camera towards her. The officer was unable to determine if she had given consent. The following morning, the victim woke up fully dressed and with no recollection of what had occurred. Upon returning, the lawsuit states that Holmes confessed to the officer that he had engaged in sexual activity with the village employee on the trip. The officer then advised the victim to seek medical attention.

The alleged victim requested a meeting with Mayor Henyard, who assured her that she would take care of the situation. However, the outcome of that interaction was the termination of the village employee, as well as the officer being demoted and removed from the mayor’s security detail.

This case is now being investigated by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who has also been tasked with examining Henyard’s spending. CBS 2 reached out to Holmes and Henyard for comment, but there has been no response. Holmes is expected to make a court appearance in June. The investigation into these serious allegations continues.
