Local Attorney and Community Leader Lourdes Casanova Seeks Palm Beach County Court Judge Seat

Royal Palm Beach, Florida – Lourdes Casanova, an esteemed attorney and small business owner, has officially declared her candidacy for the vacant seat of Palm Beach County Court Judge Group 2. As the incumbent Judge Ted Booras prepares to retire at the end of his term, Casanova joins a pool of three candidates, including Douglas Leifert and Jean Marie Middleton.

Casanova asserts that her extensive legal experience, sound judgment, and unwavering integrity make her the ideal candidate to serve the community as a county court judge. With nearly a decade of litigating criminal, civil, and traffic cases in Palm Beach County’s court system, she believes that her proven track record, community service, and personal experiences set her apart as the most qualified and prepared contender for the position. Casanova expresses her deep honor in serving Palm Beach County’s judiciary and eagerly awaits the opportunity to contribute to its well-being.

Highlighting Casanova’s commitment to serving Palm Beach County in the judiciary is her recognition by the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). The JNC, responsible for recommending qualified candidates for judgeships to the Governor’s Office, has nominated her multiple times based on her exceptional qualifications.

In addition to her legal expertise, Casanova is the founding attorney of Casanova Law, a reputable law firm in Palm Beach County that offers comprehensive legal representation in diverse areas, including criminal law, DUI, fish and wildlife, sealing and expunging, juvenile court, traffic tickets, civil small claims, and immigration.

Beginning her legal career as a prosecutor for the State Attorney’s Office in Palm Beach County, Casanova’s early experiences equipped her with the skills necessary to litigate hundreds of cases, conduct jury trials, review warrants, and evaluate evidence. Alongside her legal practice, Casanova actively supports various organizations, such as the Palm Beach County Hispanic Bar Association, the Florida Bar Leadership Academy, the Florida Bar Voluntary Bar Liaison Committee, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, Special Olympics, the Florida Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce, and the Florida Association for Women Lawyers.

Casanova’s expertise has earned her local recognition and invitations from news stations and educational institutions as a guest speaker on legal matters. Her exceptional work has been honored with distinctions such as “Top 40 Under 40” from the National Trial Lawyers, Super Lawyers Rising Stars, and recognition as one of the “10 Best” Female Attorneys for Client Satisfaction. The county court, often referred to as “the people’s court,” presides over citizen disputes involving traffic offenses, misdemeanor crimes, and financial disputes up to $50,000. Casanova brings her expertise to the county court and has acquired significant experience in litigating cases within its criminal, civil, and traffic divisions.

Casanova proudly holds a cum laude bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Florida. She graduated as the valedictorian of Royal Palm Beach High School in 2005. Raised in Palm Beach County by immigrant parents, Casanova deeply values the constitutional principles of due process, separation of powers, and access to courts. She currently resides in her hometown of Royal Palm Beach with her cherished dogs, Mouse and Fox.
